What would the Democratic Party’s campaign in my dreams be like? Let us begin with the question:
What is politics? Politics is simply a reflection of whether our society chooses to love our neighbor as ourselves, even those neighbors who are less fortunate, and those neighbors whom we will never meet. This includes not only those with Norwegian and Swedish ancestry, but also those with African, Asian, and South American ancestry.
Why are Republicans so cruel? Is The Atlantic Magazine right that for Republicans, cruelty is the point?

Why don’t Democrats run on compassion? The electorate should have a clear choice:
- A Vote for Democrats is a vote for compassion.
- A Vote for Republicans is a vote for cruelty.
Democrats: Do not fear! Your opponents say there are Christians, but they are wolves dressed up in sheep’s clothing!
Embrace compassion! Compassion is your friend! Embrace immigration! Immigrants made our country truly great! That includes not only immigrants from white countries, but also immigrants from all over the world!

The Republicans seek to paint the Democrats as the party that hates God, accusing the Democrats of being communists.
Nothing can be further from the truth! Trump is the one who loves dictators, who loves Vladimir Putin, who loves Kim Jong Un of North Korea.

Americans have forgotten their history! Few people alive remember World War II and the Great Depression; it is now history remembered in history books that are rarely read. Americans must be reminded of the key role Democrats played in forming our Democracy!
Democrats opposed dictators! Democrats led America in fighting the Nazis in World War II! Democrats under Truman opposed communism!
Americans have forgotten how Republicans resisted the New Deal, how FDR and the Democrats rescued America from the Great Depression. It was Democrats who proposed Social Security, FDIC deposit insurance, unemployment insurance, and put Americans back to work! It was Democrats under LBJ who enacted Medicare, which was bitterly opposed by the Republicans!
Americans have forgotten how FDR and the Democrats, near the end of World War II, proclaimed the basic principles of Democracies: The Four Freedoms:
- Freedom of Speech
- Freedom of Religion
- Freedom From Want
- Freedom From Fear
Do Republicans promote freedom from want? Do Republicans promote freedom from fear? If so, why do they send armies of ICE agents into peaceful Democratic cities?
Americans have also forgotten the struggles needed to pass the Civil Rights legislation of the 1960s. Only those Americans in their late seventies remember seeing protesters, young and old, black and white, beaten, shot, and murdered on their television sets by bigoted racists. They forgot Martin Luther King’s speech at the Lincoln Memorial:

CAN DEMOCRATS WIN BY POSING AS PSEUDO-REPUBLICANS?
These images would make great billboards. Billboards are the last type of advertisement that all Americans see: all parties, all races, all ages, drive by them. But they could also be easily turned into effective television ads and TikTok videos.
Why do so many Democrats seek to curry favor from a fickle electorate by posing as pseudo-Republicans? The Democrats nominated Graham Platner to run for senator in Maine; where did that get them? Why don’t Democrats run on their strengths?
Why did Trump win the last election? Simple: the overwhelming reach of Fox News and their ilk have corrupted our politics, bringing the worst out in everyone. The right-wing-nut media calls what is right wrong, what is wrong right, and pretends that hatefulness is virtuous. For the right, battling wokeness trumps loving your neighbor.

Should Democrats convene focus groups to determine why Republicans win elections, aping their tactics? Or should Democrats be bold, embracing their virtues? What should Democratic candidates do?
This election is that rare election that is truly a battle between good and evil, between compassion and cruelty, between tolerance and prejudice, between democracy and dictatorship. Democrats can never change the minds of those who revel in cruelty. Democrats can only strengthen the compassion that remains in the hearts of Americans.
For those Democrats who choose to champion compassion and Christian values, what should be their response when critics accuse them of hypocrisy? Simply that many Americans have become disillusioned with Christianity because many Christians have abandoned Christian values, values that Democrats can reclaim. The elections of 2026 and 2028 are bigger than the Democratic Party. These elections are for the soul of America, whether Americans will choose compassion over cruelty.
